About me
Stephanie Brehm is a Reentry Coordinator and Licensed Masters’ Social Worker with 9+ years of experience in working with individuals, facilitating groups and working to ensure successful community reintegration for ex-offenders. Stephanie has been employed at the Allegany County Detention Center since July of 2021. Stephanie demonstrates expertise in developing tailored support plans and implementing evidence-based programs that significantly reduce recidivism rates. Skilled in collaborative partnerships with community organizations, legal, health, and social services to enhance job placement and housing opportunities, while introducing innovative methodologies to improve program efficacy and participant engagement.
Stephanie resides in Frostburg, Maryland with her husband and two daughters, ages 21 and 16. Stephanie received a Bachelor of Science degree in social work from Frostburg State University in 2016, where she was on the Dean’s List and a member of the social work honor society. She went on to earn her Master of Social Work degree from Salisbury University in 2019 as a member of the Advanced Standing Program.
Stephanie was asked to participate in a video for John Hopkins School of Medicine. The video centered around opioid addicted, pregnant women receiving medicated assisted treatment inside detention facilities and the reentry process that’s set up for them. The video is posted on John Hopkin’s Study site and is also used to educate other detention facilities.
Stephanie is also a certified correctional officer in the state of Maryland and was valedictorian of her academy class in 2021. Stephanie is currently completing her supervision hours to sit for the clinical social worker exam through the Maryland Board of Social Work. Stephanie enjoys reentry work and being an agent of change to reduce recidivism. Her personal goal is to plant seeds of change wherever her path takes her. Stephanie’s belief is, it’s not about growing the flowers, it’s about planting the seeds.
